What is an LED flat panel light and where is it supposed to be used?

An LED flat panel light is a great replacement to fluorescent troffers because they are much more energy efficient and they can last up to 50,000 hours. LED panels also use less wattage, have a better lumen output, and light distribution. LED light panels are an ideal ceiling light in schools, offices, hospitality, healthcare, and other commercial and industrial applications. They are rectangular light fixtures that provides edge-to-edge light and they feature long life spans and high lumen output with low energy consumption making.

How do you repair an LED flat panel if you have a broken wire connector?

If your LED panel has a broken wire connector on one of the LED strips, here is what you need:

  • Knife
  • Sodder
  • Iron
  • Vinyl Tape

  • With these materials, you want to cut around the seams. Once you do this, fold back the backer and hold it down with something, BUT do NOT bend it if you can help it.
  • Remove the strain relief piece from the corner where the wire is, and then pull the LED wire out.
  • From here, you will need to re-sodder the connection. After you fix the connection, you need to put the LED strip back in, as well as the relief piece.
  • After everything is set back to it's place, tape the back and you are good to go!

How do I test an LED Panel?

Before you test an LED panel, you need to know WHAT can be tested. For an LED panel, you can test both the LED strip and the individual LED. Identify the positive and negative test strip, which should be labeled on the strip. Then use your LED tester to identify where the problem is occurring. For an individual LED, look where the LED is labeled on the test strip to know which sides are positive and negative.

Where are LED Panels ideally used?

LED Light Panels are ideal for fluorescent fixtures in homes, schools, offices, hospitality, healthcare, restaurants, retail, supermarkets, and other commercial and industrial applications. LED panels have a sleek, ultra slim design and are easy to install in commercial and residential drop ceilings or grid ceilings. With the different sized panels, you are able to create different layouts in each space and realize that some LED panels are better fit for some locations instead of others. For example, if you are putting LED panels into a linear room, you may want to use wither 1X4 or 2X4 LED panels to elongate the room. If you are in a box-shaped room, you may want to use 2X2 LED panels to help keep a uniform look.
