Does removing the Ballast make my LED lights more efficient?
No. A ballast uses about 8-10 watts of energy and around 4 watts when the ballast is removed. Electronic ballasts regulate fluorescent lamps but no LEDs. Therefor removing the ballast will not allow your LED to consume less energy. Ballasts for LEDs are interested into the lamp itself and regulate power this way. The conversion of wattage must be used for LED lights and it can not be avoided.
Can I use LED Bulbs in a Florescent fixture?
LED Bulbs will fit into a fluorescent fixture physically but they cannot be used since the ballasts will ruin them. You must use LED ready or LED fixtures with LED bulbs. There are some manufacturers that offer LED Bulbs that can work with the Fluorescent Ballast in place but hey are less efficient and cost more money.
