Cadet Apex72 Electric Wall Heaters Recalled

Glen Dimplex Americas identified an issue on September 12, 2024, where the fan on the Cadet Apex72 Electric Wall Heater could malfunction. This could cause the product to overheat and potentially result in a fatal fire hazard. About 12,900 units were affected by the recall.
If you purchased a recalled heater independently, Glen Dimplex Americas will cover all costs for replacement installations by a qualified professional. For commercial facilities, such as apartment complexes and manufacturing plants, Glen Dimplex will work directly with you to safely replace and install new units.

What Apex72 Models are Affected?

All Cadet Apex72 Electric Wall Heaters between 1200W and 1600W produced before March 1st, 2024 are impacted. The following models and manufacture dates are impacted:

Recalled Cadet Apex72 Model List

There has been one report of an Apex72 heater fan malfunctioning, causing the heater to ignite. However, no injuries were reported.

Many distributors carried these items, including Platt, HomElectrical, Crescent Electric, CED, and several others nationwide between February 2014 and February 2024.

If your electric heater's Model and Manufacturing Date fall in the affected range, please contact customer support at Glen Dimplex Americas for a free replacement heater and installation support.

Finding the Model and Manufacturing Date

Apex72 Cadet models and manufacturing date appear in DD-MM-YY format (Day-Month-Year) on the rating label at the bottom of the air outlet grille. The model number is located right below the Cadet logo, and the Manufacture Date (Mfg.Date) is found below the listed wattage, as shown in the photo below:

How to Find Cadet Apex72 Model Number and Manufacture Date

If you cannot see the manufacturing date from outside the unit, carefully remove the outlet grille. Removing the grille makes it easier to read the provided information, allowing you to identify the model. This is where you could find the heater’s:

  • Model Number
  • Rated Voltage
  • Rated Wattage
  • Manufacture Date
  • Certification Rating
