R-454B Refrigerant

Prior to the R454B, most air conditioners were using refrigerants like the R-410A. The issues with the previous refrigerants were that they had extremely high global warming potential (GWP). With the introduction of R-454B, the threat of GWP decreases by about 80% compared to other refrigerants.

Using R-454B refrigerant makes the 5th gen series more energy efficient, especially compared to 4th gen models. With R-454B, the 5th Gen series can achieve a 23.6 SEER2 rating. The SEER2 rating is a measure of how efficient an air conditioner or heat pump cools during a cooling period. Air conditioners with a SEER2 rating of 16 or higher are high-efficiency products.

The 5th Generation Mini Split can also achieve an HSPF2-4 rating of 11.5. The HSPF2-4 rating is a measure of how a heat pump heats during a heating period. Air conditioners and heat pumps with an HSPF2-4 rating of 9 or higher are highly efficient products.

Since it is highly efficient, the R-454B refrigerant uses less energy and helps to save money. Additionally, it does not create a high environmental impact while performing at a high rate.

The R-454B refrigerant is designed to provide safety and efficient operation. While it is mildly flammable, the refrigerant is safer than other options.

By being well above these ratings, 5th Generation MrCool mini splits are the best the on the market. Since the single zone mini split is highly efficient, most sizes are Energy Star certified making them perfect choices for your home!

Brand New System Size

MrCool is also introducing new system sizes with their new mini split. One of the sizes is the MrCool DIY 9K BTU model in either single or multi-zone options. The 9K BTU single zone mini split is an excellent choice for smaller spaces like bedrooms and office rooms. The new 9K model allows for mini split installations in even more locations!

The other size is the MrCool DIY 6K BTU wall mounted air handler for multi-zone installations. The 6K BTU model gives you more options to mix and match indoor and outdoor units to meet your needs. With the 6K BTU air handler, you can heat and cool smaller spaces (Up to 200 sq.ft) that the 9K BTU multi zone air handler cannot. Use the 6K BTU mini split model in small spaces such as garages and bedrooms.

DIY Installation

While there have been several changes to the MrCool DIY mini split, the one thing that remains is its DIY installation. MrCool's DIY series continues to keep the installation process hassle-free and easy to do.

It is even easier than ever to install the mini split system because of the Quick Connect Pre-Charged Line Sets. As in their title, line sets provide a quick way to connect indoor and outdoor copper pipes to transfer refrigerants. Since they come pre-charged, you don't need to hire an electrician to charge them for an added fee.

For the installation, all you will need to do is find a spot on the wall for the condenser. Once you mount the air handler, you can connect the condenser to the air handler. Snap-in mounting holes make mounting your mini-split system simple.
