The spin direction of a fan depends on whether it is summer or winter. In the summer, change the spin direction to move counterclockwise. Fan blades moving counterclockwise, push cool air down giving the occupant a breeze. Higher temperatures call for higher fan speeds.

In the winter, change the spin direction to move clockwise. During the winter, having the fan spinning clockwise, at a low speed, pushes the heat from the ceiling to the bottom of the room.

There are multiple ways to reset your ceiling fan before calling an electrician. One option is to check the batteries. Most remotes have an indicator light. If the light is not working, it might be time to change the batteries. Open the battery cover and check if the batteries are in the correct place. If they are in the proper place, they could be dead. Try placing fresh batteries in the remote and test to see if it works.

Another option is by resetting the remote. Before resetting the remote, ensure the power to the fan is off. Once the fan is completely off, wait a minute or two before turning it back on. Press the reset button so it can pair or sync with the fan. Continue pressing the reset button until the indicators tell otherwise.

One last option is to check if the remote is in range. Most fans can only be about 30 to 50 feet away from the remote to properly function. It is also important to check if there are any interferences with the remote and the ceiling fan.
