Does the Cadet UCH183 heater include a thermostat?
No. The Cadet UCH183 does not include a built-in thermostat, so you must pair it with a compatible line-voltage thermostat (wall-mounted or optional UCHT field mount kit). Without a thermostat, the heater will run continuously when powered, making temperature control difficult. A proper thermostat saves energy and keeps rooms comfortable.
Where and how should the UCH183 toe-kick heater be installed?
Install the UCH183 horizontally in a toe-kick area beneath cabinets with at least 6″ clearance to adjacent surfaces. It’s not designed for floor, vertical, or ceiling mounting. Proper placement ensures even heat distribution and prevents overheating of floors or nearby materials like vinyl.
What safety clearances and precautions are required?
Keep combustibles at least 3 feet in front and maintain proper side and top clearances per the manual and local code. Always turn off power before installation, ground the unit, and avoid using the heater in locations with flammable liquids or excessive moisture. Regular cleaning helps prevent dust buildup and overheating
