A drill bit is a rotary cutting tool used with a drill to drive screws, create pilot holes, and cut holes through tough materials.
How do you insert a drill bit?
Prepare the drill; make sure the battery is unplugged or removed from the drill.
Locate the chuck, the circular section on the front of the drill. Twist the chuck counterclockwise until it’s open wide enough to fit the smooth part of the drill bit.
Insert the drill bit into open chuck, making sure to push in until the bit is centered and straight.
Tighten the chuck with the drill bit, turning clockwise while holding the drill steady.
Check the drill bit by briefly turning on the drill to ensure the bit is centered and straight. Repeat steps 3 to 5 if necessary.
