PAR bulbs are lamps that are used for spotlight features and has a beam that usually is usually 45 degrees wide or less. BR bulbs are lamps that have a wide flood beam angle, and instead of acting as a spotlight, it provides more than a 45 degree angle, usually 120 degrees, and are often used lighting a hallway or even a kitchen counter top.

BR bulbs are not intended for fully enclosed luminaires or with emergency lighting but instead their 3000K to 2200K color temperature provides an ambient, intimate, and personal mood with its warm white light that is ideal for living rooms, family rooms, and hospitality environments. BR bulbs are intended to be used for both recessed and decorative lighting. These bulbs are also usable in damp locations and can be used as an outdoor light if wanted.
