PLS bulbs are a subtype of PL bulbs. PL stands for “plug-in,” and the “S” suffix stands for “short,” so PLS bulbs are short in length and are installed in fixtures via plug. LED PLS bulbs are energy efficient, long-lasting upgrades from compact fluorescent bulbs.
Because of their directional design, PLS bulbs are best used for hallway, security, and other decorative lighting that relies on precise angles. They are usually found in retail stores and hotels in either recessed can lights, wall sconces, or ceiling fixtures.
LED PL-type bulbs were created to retrofit CFL plug-in bulbs that were less efficient and eco-friendly. Because of their simple base design, LED PL bulbs can be easily fit in existing compact fluorescent fixtures without needing a new fixture to be installed.
2-pin, also called bi-pin, is a type of base fitting that uses two pins to attach a light bulb to a fixture. Pin bases usually operate through a plug-in or twist-and-lock method. Compared to standard screw-in bulbs, they are easy to install and make for a more secure and direct attachment to the fixture.
