What is a Gang?
A gang is a set of switches, sockets, or other electrical or mechanical devices grouped together. A gang, however, does not always refer to the number of openings in a wall plate. A wall plate, for example, can hold two duplex receptacles and be categorized as a two-gang.
What is the difference between a duplex, combination, and single wall plates?
- Duplex refers to two receptacles that are stacked on top of one another and so the wall plate will at least have two openings.
- Single wall plates have one opening that is mostly designed for toggle and rotary light switches.
- Combination plates are going to be a mix of wall plates. The most common type are those that have openings for a toggle light switch and a duplex receptacle.
What is a blank Wall Plate?
