What is Electrical Tape?
Electrical tape, also known as insulating tape, is pressure-sensitive material that is used to insulate electrical material that conducts electricity. Although it can be made of many plastics, electrical tape is usually constructed out of flexible vinyl that stretches to give effective, long-lasting insulation.
What is Electrical Tape used for?
Black electrical tape is the most commonly used to prevent dangerous faults or short circuits by insulating the electrical wire. Colored tape, also known as phasing tape, is often used to show the voltage level of a wire. Brown, for example, would be used to show that the wire had a high voltage. Because of it being able to be easily torn and written on, it can also be used for temporarily attaching objects or labeling.
