Do Satco security flood lights come with motion sensors?

Not all flood and security lights come with motion sensors.  For some outdoor floodlights and security lights, they come with motion sensors already built in and can have a range of up to 70 feet.  If you are looking to add a motion sensor to your existing fixture, each manufacturer will have their own instructions on how to install them. LED flood lights with built-in motion sensors are a great way to conserve wasted energy and prolong the life of the lightbulb.

What are the mounting options for installing security flood lights?

When it comes to mounting your LED flood lights, there are several options.  You can choose between different materials including PVC, which is lightweight and often used for smaller lights.  There are also heavy-duty options, that come in aluminum and steel, for larger LED flood light fixtures.  In addition to material, there are flush mount brackets, radial arms, and posts that can add different elements to your LED floodlights.  Depending on the application and location of your flood light, it will determine what type of bracket you can use.  Be sure to make sure the bracket is compatible with your fixture that will be included in the manufacturer’s installation sheet. Which bulb do I need for my Satco outdoor security flood lights?

The type of light bulb that you will need depends on the type of fixture you have and the desired lighting effect you need.  For instance, your lighting fixture may require a specific bulb size or may not be retrofitted to an LED bulb which may require a Halogen or Incandescent bulb.  The type of lighting you want will determine your bulb choice as well.  If you want a wide beam angle you will want to choose a LED PAR bulb with a wide beam  angle.  If you want lower brightness you will want to choose a bulb with a lower Lumen output. There are many different types of bulb selections for each option you may want.  Please review our blog on a complete bulb fitting guide to help chose the right bulb for your application.

What is the difference between a rectangular flood light and a circular floodlight?

Both rectangle and circle flood lights are used outdoors. Though they have many similarities, they are typically used for different applications. A rectangle flood light is most commonly used for security since the elongated shape can cover a wider area with light. A circular flood light can also be used for security but is more commonly used for warehouses or doorways and landscape lighting. The circular flood light has several beam options but can be used from a narrow, almost spotlight for a specific location, to speeding out to cover a garage or driveway.
