A flush mount light is a light fixture that directly installs to the ceiling and does not have visible center stems. This gives the illusion that the bulbs are attached to the ceiling. Since flush mounts seamlessly transition from the fixture to the ceiling, they are a popular choice in home and office spaces.
Barn Lights: Barn lights next to entrances or garages should be positioned 1/3 the height of the door. These lights should also be 66 inches from the ground and floor. Make sure to place the lights around 6 inches from the edge of the door.
Wall Lanterns: Have wall lanterns that are positioned at 1/3 the height of the door, 66 inches from the ground, and 6 inches from the edge of the door.
Flush Mount Lighting: With flush mount lighting, the light should be placed at least ¼ of the width of the doorway. It should also be ¼ of the height of the doorway.
Pendant Lights: Pendant lights should be hung from the ceiling or entryway should be 1/5 the height of the door. The bottom of the pendant should be at least 7 feet off the ground and there is 6 inches between the top of the door and light fixture.
Chandelier Lights: For chandelier lights that hang from a covered porch or patio, the light should hang at least 7 feet above the ground and centered.
Pathway Lights: Pathway lights should be placed every few feet and 6 inches away from the path.
Floodlights: Floodlights should be at least 6 to 8 feet above the ground depending on where you place them.
