What size ceiling fan for bedroom?
Before choosing the size of your ceiling fan, you will need to calculate the square footage of your bedroom. The size of your bedroom will help you choose the perfect size ceiling fan.
In general, for most bedrooms (50 to 75 square feet), a ceiling fan that is between 29 and 36 inches in diameter is perfect. If the bedroom is larger (75 to 175 square feet), a ceiling fan should be around 36 to 48 inches in diameter. This size allows for enough airflow throughout the bedroom.
Which way should a ceiling fan spin?
The direction a ceiling fan should spin depends on the season the region is in. In the summer, the ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. The fan blades will push the cool air downwards which creates a downdraft. Having the fan at maximum speed is the best way to optimize the downdraft.
In the winter, the fan should spin clockwise. The fan blades will push the air upwards, creating an updraft. An updraft is beneficial because it allows you to redistribute the hot air from the ceiling down to the rest of the room. It also moves the cooler air from the bottom of the room to the top. Keeping the fan speed at a slower rate will optimize this updraft. Having fan speed too high will create cooler air.
