What direction should a ceiling fan go in the summer?

During summer and hotter months, ceiling fan blades should rotate counterclockwise. By turning counterclockwise, the fan blades will push the cool air down. This creates a “wind chill” effect helping you to feel cooler in the room. To make the most of the cooling effect, run the fan at the highest speed.

Having fan blades spin counterclockwise helps reduce energy costs.

How to measure ceiling fan size?

The measurement of the ceiling fan size depends on the number of fan blades on the fan. There are a couple steps you can take to find the measurements of the fan.

First, turn the fan off and wait for the blades to stop spinning.

Next, use a tape measure and hold it at the tip of the blade. You may need to use a step ladder to reach the fan.

If the fan has an even number of blades, measure the distance between one end of the blade to the opposing blade. This measures the diameter of the fan.

If the fan has an odd number of blades, measure the distance of the fan by measuring from the end of the fan blade to the center of the fan. Once you reach that number, multiply that number by two to get the diameter.
