• PAR20: 20/8 = 2.5 inches
• PAR30: 30/8 = 3.75 inches
• PAR36: 36/8 = 4.5 inches
• PAR38: 38/8 = 4.75 inches

The number on the PAR bulb is the diameter of the bulb. The measurement is done in eighths of an inch. Other types of PAR bulbs are PAR16 and PAR56 bulbs. These are less common than the other ones, however.
