A well light is one of the more popular landscape lighting options. Well lights are typically found in the ground, and they highlight trees, buildings, and statues. They get their name from directing focused light upwards from a “well”. Due to their in-ground design, well lights benefit from being unnoticeable during daytime hours.

Flood lights are different from well lights because they cast light above ground or from a pole while well lights are in the ground. Flood lights cast a wide range of light to an area like a park or stadium. Well lights on the other hand shine light upwards and have a less powerful light than flood lights.
