The NFPA Launches CodeFinder: Your Online Resource for Electrical Codes, NFPA Codes, and Safety Regulations
The NFPA launched a new online tool, CodeFinder, on Monday, June 11, 2018 that helps identify NEC codes, building codes, and reference standards in the US and around the world. Keeping up with all of the major changes in electrical, safety, and building regulation can be daunting for those in the building industry. CodeFinder was designed as an interactive tool to give everyone access to those documents at the click of a button.
Changing the Resource Game
Access data from across the world. According to the NFPA, the new web-based resource shares information from the NFPA codes referenced within the Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, International Code Council, and the National Electric Code. These features are available to the following countries:
- U.S. States, Cities
- Canadian provinces and territories
- Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Saudi Arabia
- United American territories
Search for information easier with CodeFinder. The tool offers several search features, including a search bar where users can search for certain codes (2). CodeFinder also offers users a chance to input codes that are not already included. If they choose to do so, users could opt to use their color-coded map and search by region or by topic. The topics include:
- Building and Life Safety
- Electrical
- Emergency Response
- Fire Protection Systems
- Industrial Hazards
This tool is meant to be an educational and informational resource to anyone in the industry. The NFPA has high hopes that this new web-based tool will be especially helpful as more people begin using it. They even have plans of launching a new app in the near future. One thing’s for sure, this new tool should make the lives of you and others in the industry a whole lot easier!
