How far apart should downlights be?

How far apart downlights are from each other depends on the size of the ceiling. To find the distance between them, you can find the height of the ceiling and divide that by 2. In general, do not exceed 6 feet apart between lights.

When installing downlights, it is also recommended to place them about 2 feet away from the wall.

How to change to LED Downlights?

There are a couple of ways to change to LED downlights. One way you can change to LED is by changing the downlight bulb.

  • First, remove the bulb being replaced. This can be done by twisting, unclipping, or pulling the bulb out of the socket.
  • If you are twisting the bulb, make sure to twist counterclockwise until the bulb comes out of the fitting.
  • Unclipping the bulb is another option you can choose from. There is a metal clip that you will need to unclip, and the bulb will fall out of the housing.
  • You can also gently pull the bulb casing out of the wall. This will allow you to remove the bulb and place an LED bulb in its place.

Another way you can change to LED downlights is by replacing the entire housing.

  • To start this process, turn the power off.
  • When the power is off, you can start to remove the entire downlight. You can start by pulling down one of the spring slips that hold the downlights in place. Make sure to use the ceiling as support so you do not mess up the ceiling or downlights.
  • Once one of the sides is pulled down, you can easily remove the other side of the downlight, allowing you to successfully remove the existing downlight.
  • After removing the downlight from the wall, you can replace it with an LED Downlight Replacement.
